Kepler-1362: A Distant Star and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1362 is a star located 2390 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star itself is estimated to be 3.09 billion years old, with a mass of 0.8 solar masses, a radius of 0.74 solar radii, and a temperature of 4860 K. Its mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's, and it is cooler than the Sun as well.

The only planet known to orbit Kepler-1362 is Kepler-1362 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. This planet has an orbital period of 136 days and a radius of 2.6 Earth radii, making it larger than Earth. That radius places it within the Neptune-like size class, which extends up to 4 times Earth's radius.
