Kepler-1358 b: A Transiting Earth-Sized World

Kepler-1358 is a single-star system located 1780 light-years away, and the star hosts one known planet. The star is 0.82 solar masses with a radius of 0.79 solar radii, making it smaller than the Sun in both respects. Its temperature of 5180 K is also cooler than the Sun's. The star's age is given as 5.13 billion years.

The system's only cataloged planet, Kepler-1358 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1358 b has a radius of 1.12 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 7.06 days. Its radius places it within the Earth-like size class, which spans planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
