Kepler-1300 and Its Solitary Planet

Kepler-1300 is a single-star system 2530 light-years away. Its star is estimated to be 3.55 billion years old, with a mass of 1.29 solar masses, a radius of 1.79 solar radii, and a temperature of 6130 K. The reported mass, radius, and temperature estimates are all larger or hotter than the Sun's corresponding values. One planet orbits this host: Kepler-1300 b.

Kepler-1300 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the observed brightness; repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period. Kepler-1300 b completes an orbit every 22.2 days. Its radius is 1.37 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That measurement places it within the Earth-like size class, which covers planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
