Kepler-1289 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1289 is a star located 3440 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 2.95 billion years old, has a mass of 1.1 solar masses, and a radius of 1.17 solar radii. Its temperature is 6080 K, hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1289 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1289 b orbits every 7.99 days. It is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class reaching 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its radius is 1.52 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
