Kepler-1261 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1261 is a star located 2430 light-years away. It hosts one planet, Kepler-1261 b, a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2016. During a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness.

The host star is estimated to be 4.47 billion years old, with 0.82 solar masses, 0.77 solar radii, and a temperature of 5010 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

Kepler-1261 b completes an orbit in 48.4 days. Its radius is 2.26 Earth radii, an estimate larger than Earth's. A Super-Earth reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.
