Kepler-1260 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-1260 is a star located 5660 light-years away. It has a mass of 1.06 solar masses, a radius of 1.08 solar radii, a temperature of 5960 K, and an age of 3.8 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-1260 b, discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 1.77 Earth radii, placing it in the Super-Earth size class, which reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius.

Kepler-1260 b completes an orbit every 19.1 days. Its radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
