Kepler-1259 and Its Single Known Planet

Kepler-1259 is a star 2630 light-years away with one planet in its cataloged system. The host star is estimated to be 5.25 billion years old, with a mass of 0.8 solar masses and a radius of 0.77 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 5050 K, and its mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's.

The one known planet is Kepler-1259 b, an Earth-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1259 b completes an orbit in 0.663 days. Its radius is 1.43 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
