Kepler-1190 and Its Earth-like Planet

Kepler-1190 is a star located 1120 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 3.98 billion years old, with a mass of 0.76 solar masses and a radius of 0.72 solar radii. Its temperature is 4730 K, and its reported mass, radius, and temperature are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1190 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1190 b is classified as Earth-like; this size class compares radius with Earth's, and an Earth-like planet stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 1.33 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's, and its orbital period is 10.5 days.
