Kepler-1168 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1168 is a star located 2450 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.27 billion years old, with a mass of 0.87 solar masses, a radius of 0.82 solar radii, and a temperature of 5160 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1168 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1168 b has an orbital period of 55.8 days and a radius of 2.5 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. Its size places it in the Neptune-like class, which includes planets reaching up to 4 times Earth's radius.
