Kepler-1165 is a star located 5140 light-years away. It is 3.24 billion years old and has a mass of 1.13 solar masses, a radius of 1.18 solar radii, and a temperature of 6080 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's. Two planets are known to orbit this host.
Both planets were found by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1165 b was discovered in 2016 and is classified as a Super-Earth, with a radius of 1.55 Earth radii and an orbital period of 9.48 days. Kepler-1165 c was discovered in 2021 and is Neptune-like, with a radius of 3.36 Earth radii and an orbital period of 30 days. Both planets are larger than Earth, and among the listed planets, Kepler-1165 b has the shortest period and the smallest radius, while Kepler-1165 c has the longest period and the largest radius.
