Kepler-1113 b: A Neptune-Like World Orbiting a Single Star

Kepler-1113 is a single-star system located 3500 light-years from Earth. Its star has a mass of 1.12 solar masses, a radius of 1.17 solar radii, and a temperature of 5930 K, and it is 3.55 billion years old. One known planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-1113 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1113 b completes one orbit every 42.3 days and has a radius of 2.81 Earth radii.

The star's mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's corresponding values. Kepler-1113 b's radius is larger than Earth's.
