Kepler-1104 and Its Earth-like Planet

Kepler-1104 is a single-star system 1730 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 2.04 billion years old, with a mass of 1.3 solar masses, a radius of 1.41 solar radii, and a temperature of 6420 K. Each of these estimates is larger or hotter than the corresponding value for the Sun.

The planet, Kepler-1104 b, was found by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the starlight slightly; repeated dips reveal the planet's orbital period. Kepler-1104 b completes an orbit every 5.04 days. Its radius is 1.23 Earth radii, slightly larger than Earth's, and this places it within the Earth-like size class, which covers planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
