Kepler-1090 is a single star located 2800 light-years away, with two planets known to orbit it. The host star is 4.37 billion years old, has a mass of 0.86 solar masses, a radius of 0.82 solar radii, and a temperature of 5320 K, making it smaller, less massive, and cooler than the Sun.
Both planets were detected by the transit method, which catches a small dip in starlight as a planet crosses in front of its star; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1090 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2016, has a radius of 2.25 Earth radii and an orbital period of 199 days, the longest among the listed planets. Kepler-1090 c, a Neptune-like planet discovered in 2021, has a radius of 3.29 Earth radii - the largest among the listed planets - and an orbital period of 42.4 days, the shortest among them. Both planets are larger than Earth, and Kepler-1090 b has the smallest radius of the two.
