Kepler-1019 and Its Earth-like Planet

Kepler-1019 is a single star located 633 light-years away, with an age of 3.55 billion years. Its mass is 0.7 solar masses and its radius is 0.67 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values. The star's reported temperature of 4430 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, Kepler-1019 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods, and this planet's orbital period is 1.41 days. With a radius of 1.46 Earth radii, it is classified as Earth-like, a size class covering planets within 1.5 times Earth's radius, and its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
