Kepler-1000 is a star 3640 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 1.26 billion years old, has a mass of 1.4 solar masses and a radius of 1.51 solar radii, and has a temperature of 6450 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.
The planet Kepler-1000 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1000 b has an orbital period of 120 days, so it completes one orbit in that time. Its radius is 4.76 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. With a radius exceeding 4 times Earth's, it is classified as Jupiter-like.
