Kepler-1977 b: A Super-Earth in a Single-Planet System

Kepler-1977 is a star located 1930 light-years away, and just one planet has been found orbiting it. The star has a mass of 0.73 solar masses and a radius of 0.706 solar radii, making it smaller than the Sun in both respects. Its temperature of 4610 K is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1977 b, is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius of 1.66 Earth radii makes it larger than Earth. The planet was discovered by the transit method in 2023, when it passed in front of its star and caused a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 4.54 days.
