Kepler-1887 and Its Solitary World

Kepler-1887 is a single-star system 4460 light-years away. Its host star has a mass of 0.945 solar masses, a radius of 0.854 solar radii, and a temperature of 5750 K. One planet orbits this star.

That planet is Kepler-1887 b, discovered in 2021 by the transit method. During a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1887 b completes an orbit in 19.9 days. Its radius of 2.92 Earth radii places it in the Neptune-like size class, which includes planets reaching up to 4 times Earth's radius. The reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
