Kepler-1636 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1636 is a star 6350 light-years from Earth, and one planet has been found in orbit around it. The host star has a mass of 1.01 solar masses and a radius of 1.02 solar radii, making it very similar to the Sun in both respects. Its temperature is 5800 K, and its age is 3.98 billion years.

The only known planet in this system is Kepler-1636 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1636 b has an orbital period of 425 days, the time it takes to complete one orbit. Its radius is 3.23 Earth radii, a reported estimate larger than Earth's. That radius places it within the Neptune-like size class, which extends up to 4 times Earth's radius.
