Kepler-1428 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1428 is a star located 4990 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 2.04 billion years old, with a mass of 1.28 solar masses and a radius of 1.36 solar radii. Its temperature is 6180 K, hotter than the Sun's, and both its mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1428 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1428 b completes an orbit every 10.7 days. It is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its radius of 1.64 Earth radii is larger than Earth's.
