Kepler-1421 b: A Sub-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-1421 is a star located 2560 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 2.75 billion years old and has a mass of 1.25 solar masses and a radius of 1.42 solar radii. Its temperature is 6340 K. The star's reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's. The star's reported temperature is also hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1421 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet completes an orbit every 6.91 days, and its radius is 0.93 Earth radii. As a Sub-Earth, it is smaller than Earth.
