Kepler-119: A Distant Star With Two Known Planets

Kepler-119 is a star located 2290 light-years away, and it hosts two known planets. The star is 3.63 billion years old, with a mass of 1.01 solar masses, a radius of 1.03 solar radii, and a temperature of 5830 K.

Both planets were discovered in 2014 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-119 b is a Neptune-like planet with a radius of 3.6 Earth radii and an orbital period of 2.42 days. Kepler-119 c is a Sub-Earth with a radius of 0.92 Earth radii and an orbital period of 4.13 days.

Among the listed planets, Kepler-119 b has the shortest year and the largest radius, while Kepler-119 c has the longest year and the smallest radius. Kepler-119 b's reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
