KOBE-1: A Cool Dwarf with Two Known Worlds

KOBE-1 is a K7 V star 78.2 light-years away, with a reported mass of 0.629 solar masses, a radius of 0.619 solar radii, and a temperature of 4140 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and it is cooler than the Sun. Two planets are known to orbit it.

Both planets were discovered in 2025 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star. KOBE-1 b has a minimum mass of 8.8 Earth masses and an orbital period of 8.54 days. KOBE-1 c has a minimum mass of 12.4 Earth masses and an orbital period of 29.7 days. Both minimum masses are larger than Earth's, and each is a lower bound on the planet's true mass rather than an exact figure.

Among the listed planets, KOBE-1 b has the shortest year and the smallest minimum mass, while KOBE-1 c has the longest year and the largest minimum mass.
