KELT-24 b: A Giant Planet Orbiting a Hotter, Larger Star

KELT-24 is a star located 315 light-years away with a spectral type of F5, placing it in a temperature class hotter than the Sun's G-type. The star's reported mass estimate is 1.27 solar masses, larger than the Sun's, and its reported radius estimate is 1.34 solar radii, also larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 6430 K, hotter than the Sun's, and its age is 1.98 billion years.

One planet orbits this host. KELT-24 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by the transit method in 2019. Its radius of 12.7 Earth radii exceeds 4 times Earth's radius, confirming its Jupiter-like size class, and is larger than Earth's. Its mass estimate of 1460 Earth masses is larger than Earth's and roughly 4.59 times Jupiter's mass. The planet completes an orbit in 5.55 days, and its mean density is 3.91 g/cm³, 0.71 times Earth's.
