K2-75: A Distant Star With Two Neptune-Like Worlds

K2-75 is a star 1830 light-years away, and two planets orbit it. The star itself is a single object with a reported mass of 1.17 solar masses, a radius of 1.24 solar radii, and a temperature of 6020 K. Each of those estimates is larger or hotter than the corresponding value for the Sun.

Both known planets are Neptune-like, a size class that reaches up to four times Earth's radius. K2-75 b and K2-75 c were each found by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star causes a small dip in observed brightness, and both were reported in 2016. Among the listed planets, K2-75 b has the shortest year by reported estimates, at 7.81 days, while K2-75 c has the longest, at 18.3 days. The two also bracket each other in size: K2-75 b has the smallest radius among the listed planets, at 2.67 Earth radii, and K2-75 c has the largest, at 2.77 Earth radii. Both radii are larger than Earth's.
