K2-259 is a star 1360 light-years away with one known planet. The star has a mass of 1.09 solar masses, a radius of 1.15 solar radii, and a temperature of 5960 K. Its mass is larger than the Sun's, its radius is larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter than the Sun's.
The system hosts K2-259 b, a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2018. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. K2-259 b orbits its star every 15.5 days and has a radius of 2.32 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its classification as a Super-Earth describes its radius rather than its composition.
