K2-244 and Its Super-Earth

K2-244 is a star 694 light-years away with one known planet. The star has a mass of 0.86 solar masses and a radius of 0.92 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature of 5680 K is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet K2-244 b is a Super-Earth, a size class for planets whose radius reaches 2.5 times Earth's. Discovered by transit in 2018, it has a radius of 1.75 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and completes an orbit every 21.1 days. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.
