K2-152 b: A Super-Earth Orbiting a Cool Red Dwarf

K2-152 is an M0.0 V star located 354 light-years away. Its spectral type marks it as a small, cool red dwarf, and its reported measurements bear this out: a mass of 0.654 solar masses, a radius of 0.631 solar radii, and a temperature of 3940 K, all smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding values. One planet orbits this star.

That planet is K2-152 b, a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2018. The transit method detects a planet when it passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period. K2-152 b completes one orbit every 32.6 days and has a reported radius of 2.29 Earth radii, larger than Earth's radius. That radius places it within the Super-Earth size class, which extends to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
