K2-149 is an M-type dwarf, a small, cool red dwarf, lying 403 light-years away. Its spectral type, M1.0 V, places it in the coolest and reddest stellar class, and the trailing V marks it as a main-sequence dwarf. The star has a reported mass of 0.595 solar masses and a reported radius of 0.568 solar radii, and its reported temperature is 3750 K. One planet is known to orbit it.
That planet is K2-149 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2018. During a transit, the planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. K2-149 b completes an orbit every 11.3 days and has a radius of 1.64 Earth radii, making it larger than Earth. Its size classification, Super-Earth, describes its radius rather than its composition.
