K2-118 is a star located 1050 light-years away. It has 0.776 solar masses, a radius of 0.789 solar radii, and a temperature of 4800 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and it is cooler than the Sun. One planet has been found orbiting this star.
That planet, K2-118 b, is a Neptune-like world discovered by the transit method in 2017. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. K2-118 b completes an orbit every 50.9 days. Its radius is 2.54 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
