K2-115 b: A Jupiter-Like Planet Around a Sun-Like Star

K2-115 is a G4 star located 1350 light-years away, with a spectral class indicating it is somewhat cooler than the Sun. The star has a mass of 0.918 solar masses and a radius of 0.855 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values. Its age is 2.2 billion years, and its temperature is 5870 K. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, K2-115 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2017, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 20.3 days. Its radius is 11.8 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it falls into the Jupiter-like size class because it exceeds four times Earth's radius. Its mass is 321 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. The planet's mean density is 1.08 g/cm³, which is 0.195 times Earth's.
