K2-114: A Distant Star With One Known Planet

K2-114 is a star located 1550 light-years from Earth. It has one known planet. The host star is 7.2 billion years old and contains 0.86 solar masses. Its radius is 0.824 solar radii, and its temperature is 4920 K. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet K2-114 b is a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2017, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 11.4 days. Its radius is 10.6 Earth radii, which exceeds 4 times Earth's radius and places it in the Jupiter-like class, and its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. Its mass is 639 Earth masses, a figure larger than Earth's and roughly 2.01 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 2.96 g/cm³, 0.538 times Earth's.
