HU Aqr is a binary star system, and its host star has a measured temperature of 5950 K. Two planets orbit both stars of this binary system rather than one star alone, making them circumbinary planets. Both were discovered in 2011 using eclipse timing variations, a method that detects a planet through the way its gravity shifts the timing of eclipses in the binary.
HU Aqr AB b has a mass of 1880 Earth masses and an orbital period of 2390 days, the shortest period among the listed planets. Its mass is larger than Earth's and roughly 5.9 times Jupiter's mass. HU Aqr AB c has a mass of 1430 Earth masses and an orbital period of 4370 days, the longest among the listed planets. Its mass is larger than Earth's and roughly 4.5 times Jupiter's mass.
