HIP 71135 is a cool, small red dwarf star of spectral type M1, located 105 light-years away. Its reported mass estimate is 0.64 solar masses and its reported radius estimate is 0.71 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's, while its temperature of 4090 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.
That planet, HIP 71135 b, was discovered in 2019 using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. HIP 71135 b has a minimum mass of 18.8 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass that is larger than Earth's, and it completes one orbit in 87.2 days.
