HIP 5763 and Its Orbiting Planet

HIP 5763 is a K6 V star located 104 light-years away. Its spectral type marks it as a main-sequence dwarf. The star has a mass of 0.68 solar masses, a radius of 0.75 solar radii, and a temperature of 4350 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, HIP 5763 b, was discovered in 2021 using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. HIP 5763 b has a minimum mass of 162 Earth masses and an orbital period of 30 days. Its minimum mass is a lower bound on its true mass and is larger than Earth's.
