HIP 107772 is a single star 77.1 light-years away with a spectral type of M0, making it a small, cool red dwarf. Its mass is 0.63 solar masses and its radius is 0.564 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values, while its temperature of 4010 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.
That planet, HIP 107772 b, was discovered in 2020 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Its minimum mass is 12.9 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass that is larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit every 55.2 days.
The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its radius estimate is likewise smaller than the Sun's.
