HD 99492 is a K-type star 59.4 light-years away, with a spectral type of K2/4. Its measured mass is 0.83 solar masses and its radius is 0.76 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values. The star is cooler than the Sun at a temperature of 4960 K, and its age is 8.6 billion years. Two planets have been found orbiting this host.
Both planets were discovered using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. HD 99492 b was discovered in 2004, and HD 99492 c in 2023. Each has a minimum mass, meaning a lower bound on its true mass. HD 99492 b's minimum mass is 25.5 Earth masses, and HD 99492 c's is 17.9 Earth masses; both are larger than Earth's mass. Among the listed planets, HD 99492 b has the largest minimum mass and HD 99492 c the smallest, while HD 99492 b also has the shortest year at 17.1 days and HD 99492 c the longest at 95.2 days.
