HD 95089 and Its Two Known Planets

HD 95089 is a K0 star located 447 light-years away. It is estimated to be 1.85 billion years old, with a mass of 1.67 solar masses and a radius of 4.73 solar radii. Its temperature is 4970 K, cooler than the Sun's. Both known planets orbit this star and were found by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion.

HD 95089 b was discovered in 2009. Its minimum mass is 400 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 1.26 times Jupiter's mass, and its orbital period is 464 days. HD 95089 c was discovered in 2016. Its minimum mass is 1100 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 3.45 times Jupiter's mass, and its orbital period is 1790 days.

Among the listed planets, HD 95089 b has the shortest year and the smallest minimum mass, while HD 95089 c has the longest year and the largest minimum mass. Both minimum masses are lower bounds on the planets' true masses.
