HD 86728 b: A Nearby Sun-Like Star and Its Single Planet

HD 86728 is a G1V star located 48.7 light-years away, with a spectral type indicating a Sun-like, main-sequence dwarf. It has one known planet. The star's reported mass estimate is 0.96 solar masses, smaller than the Sun's, while its reported radius estimate is 1.06 solar radii, larger than the Sun's. Its reported temperature is 5700 K, cooler than the Sun, and its age is 9.52 billion years.

The one known planet is HD 86728 b, discovered in 2025 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Its minimum mass is 9.43 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, and it completes one orbit in 31.2 days.
