Planet HD 45652 b: A Giant World Orbiting a Sun-Like Star

HD 45652 is a star located 114 light-years from Earth. Its spectral type of G8/K0 places it in the same broad temperature class as the Sun, and it is characterized as a Sun-like star with a temperature of 5310 K, which is cooler than the Sun's. The star has a mass of 1 solar masses, a radius of 0.92 solar radii, and an age of 5 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, HD 45652 b, was discovered in 2008 using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The planet has a minimum mass of 138 Earth masses, which is larger than Earth's, and it completes one orbit in 44.1 days. Its minimum mass is a lower bound on its true mass.

The orbit of HD 45652 b is the only one reported around this star.
