HD 27894 and Its Three Planets

HD 27894 is a K2 star 143 light-years away with three known planets. Its reported mass is 0.8 solar masses and its reported radius is 0.85 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values. The star's reported temperature is 4830 K, cooler than the Sun's, and its age is a reported lower limit of 13 billion years.

All three planets were found by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. HD 27894 b was discovered in 2005, and HD 27894 c and HD 27894 d were both discovered in 2017.

HD 27894 b has a minimum mass of 197 Earth masses, larger than Earth's. A minimum mass is a lower bound on a planet's true mass, not an exact value. Its orbital period is 18 days. Among the listed planets, HD 27894 b has the shortest year by reported estimates.

HD 27894 c has a minimum mass of 51.5 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 36.1 days. Among the listed planets, HD 27894 c has the second-shortest year by reported estimates.

HD 27894 d has a reported mass of 2060 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 6.49 times Jupiter's mass. Its orbital period is 5020 days. Among the listed planets, HD 27894 d has the longest year by reported estimates.
