HD 2638 and Its Planet

HD 2638 is a G-type star located 179 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star's reported mass is 0.9 solar masses, its reported radius is 0.73 solar radii, and its reported temperature is 5240 K. Its reported age carries an upper limit of 1 billion years. Its radius is smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's. A spectral type of G5 places it in the same broad temperature class as the Sun.

The one known planet is HD 2638 b, discovered in 2005 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Its minimum mass is 133 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass, and that minimum mass is larger than Earth's. The planet completes an orbit in 3.44 days.
