HD 220689 and Its Lone Known Planet

HD 220689 is a G-type main-sequence star located 153 light-years away, with an age of 3.5 billion years. Its reported mass is 1.04 solar masses and its radius is 1.07 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's, and its temperature of 5920 K is hotter than the Sun's. One known planet orbits this star.

That planet, HD 220689 b, was discovered in 2012 using the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. It has a minimum mass of 355 Earth masses - a lower bound on its true mass, larger than Earth's and roughly 1.12 times Jupiter's mass - and an orbital period of 2270 days.
