HD 216536 and Its Lone Known Planet

HD 216536 is a K0 star located 1230 light-years away, and it is host to one known planet. The star is estimated to be 3.8 billion years old, with a mass of 1.36 solar masses and a radius of 12.5 solar radii, making its reported radius estimate larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 4640 K, which is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, HD 216536 b, was discovered in 2015 using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. HD 216536 b has a minimum mass of 334 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass that is larger than Earth's mass, and it completes an orbit every 149 days.
