HD 196067 and Its Two Known Planets

HD 196067 is a G-type main-sequence star 130 light-years away. The star is estimated to be 4.2 billion years old, with a mass of 1.16 solar masses and a radius of 1.71 solar radii. Its temperature is 6070 K, hotter than the Sun's, and both its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's. Two planets are known to orbit this star.

HD 196067 b was discovered in 2012 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. It has a mass of 3620 Earth masses, roughly 11.4 times Jupiter's mass and larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 3410 days, the longest year among the listed planets.

HD 196067 c was discovered in 2025, also by radial velocity. Its minimum mass is 10.4 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, making it a lower bound on the planet's true mass rather than an ordinary estimate. Its orbital period is 4.6 days, the shortest year among the listed planets.
