HD 187085 and Its Planet

HD 187085 is a G0 V star located 150 light-years away. This spectral type identifies a Sun-like, main-sequence dwarf. The star is 1 billion years old, contains 1.2 solar masses, spans 1.17 solar radii, and has a temperature of 6190 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature estimates are each larger or hotter than the Sun's.

A single planet orbits this host. HD 187085 b was discovered in 2006 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The planet has a minimum mass of 266 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass that is larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 1020 days.
