HD 180053 is a K0 star 447 light-years away. It is larger than the Sun in both mass and radius, at 1.75 solar masses and 4.06 solar radii, and its temperature of 5130 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.
That planet, HD 180053 b, was discovered in 2018 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Its minimum mass is 697 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass rather than an exact figure. This is larger than Earth's minimum mass and corresponds to roughly 2.19 times Jupiter's mass. HD 180053 b completes one orbit every 214 days.
