HD 135694 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

HD 135694 is a star 241 light-years away with one known planet in orbit. The star is estimated to be 9.8 billion years old, with a mass of 0.913 solar masses and a radius of 1.07 solar radii. Its temperature is 5700 K. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, while its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's.

The system's only known planet, HD 135694 b, was discovered in 2023 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. HD 135694 b is classified as Neptune-like, meaning its radius reaches up to four times Earth's. Its radius is 2.86 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit every 15.9 days.
