HD 128356 and Its Lone Known Planet

HD 128356 is a K3 V star, an orange dwarf somewhat smaller and cooler than the Sun. It lies 85.3 light-years away and is estimated to be 10 billion years old. Its mass is 0.65 solar masses and its radius is 0.85 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values, and its temperature of 4880 K is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet, HD 128356 b, was discovered in 2016 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Its minimum mass is 283 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass and larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit in 298 days.
