HATS-55 is a star 1990 light-years away with one known planet, HATS-55 b. The star's age is 0.4 billion years. Its mass is 1.2 solar masses and its radius is 1.13 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. With a temperature of 6210 K, it is also hotter than the Sun.
HATS-55 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by transit in 2019. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. HATS-55 b orbits every 4.2 days. Its radius is 14 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass is 293 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.585 g/cm³, 0.106 times Earth's.
