HATS-49 is a star 1060 light-years away with one known planet in orbit. The host star is 10.5 billion years old, with a mass of 0.713 solar masses, a radius of 0.698 solar radii, and a temperature of 4410 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.
The planet is HATS-49 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2020. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. HATS-49 b completes an orbit in 4.15 days. Its mass is 112 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, and its radius is 8.57 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.98 g/cm³, 0.178 times Earth's.
